Alter Rock’s aim is to help you have fun and to push your limits!
Since opening in 2008 the number of regular climbers has been steadily increasing, due to the friendly staff, quality of the routes and convenient opening times. If you work in Derby city or nearby, why not come along at lunchtimes?
PARTIES AND GROUPS: If you are interested in having a party or bringing a group please look at the Parties and Groups section. If you come as part of a group you can have a go at our Air Walk or the Labyrinth Cave for something completely different from climbing!
SNACKS AVAILABLE: For those feeling peckish or thirsty there are soft drinks, chocolate bars, cakes, sandwiches and hot snacks available.
CHALK
We sell chalk to climbers – but also for use in the gym. Climbers’ chalk is light and powders easily. It’s 100% additive free and has no drying agents, making it the perfect choice to improve your grip and reduce sweaty hands whether you are climbing, weightlifting or performing gymnastics. Pop in and buy some chalk on your way to the gym in Derby or to top up your chalk bag.
NEW ROUTES EVERY WEEK: We change our bouldering problems and reset our roped routes regularly. You can see what has just changed and which routes are next for refreshing on our Settings page.
SCHOOL HOLIDAY EXTRAS: Looking for something to do over the school holidays? Check out the School Holiday page or our courses section to find something to suit you.
